PM Modi offers India as host for COP33 in 2028

During his address at COP28 in Dubai, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed India's commitment to climate action and proposed to host the COP33 summit in India in 2028. Emphasizing India's goal of reducing emissions by 45% by 2030 and increasing the share of non-fossil fuels to 50%, PM Modi highlighted the country's dedication to achieving net-zero emissions by 2070.

The prime minister, who was the only leader present at the opening plenary, showcased India as a global example of striking a balance between development and environmental conservation. Addressing the high-level segment of the UN climate conference, PM Modi stressed the importance of a just and inclusive energy transition globally.

He called for a balance between mitigation and adaptation, underlining the need for decisive action to protect the future of Mother Earth. The proposal to host COP33 in 2028 aligns with India's ongoing commitment to the UN Framework for Climate Change process.
